YOUNGSTOWN -- Opening arguments were to begin today in the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court trial of a 22-year-old man charged in the April 2000 shooting death of a man outside Pal Joey's Lounge on East Midlothian Boulevard. Jury selection began Monday.
Tommy Lee Williams of Meadow Street is charged with murder. He is accused of killing Michael P. Booker, 22, of West Rockwell Road in Austintown.
According to police, Booker got into a fistfight before the shooting with a Campbell man who had punched a woman in the mouth.
Williams, who was with the Campbell man, shot Booker, authorities said.
The case is being heard by Judge R. Scott Krichbaum.
