Utility plant funds OK'd
COLUMBUS -- The State Controlling Board has approved an additional $70,124 for improvements to Youngstown State University's central utility plant.
The money, approved Monday, is for the second phase of the $600,000-plus project and will be used for upgrading and retubing of three electric chillers and for other improvements, according to state officials.
The building, built in 1974, houses heating and cooling equipment for the university.
Billing error fixed
SOUTHINGTON -- The township's school district has straightened out a billing error that resulted in a recent finding for recovery by the state auditor's office.
District Treasurer Marie Vine said a state audit for fiscal year 2001 found that the district overpaid Valley Electric Consolidated of Warren by $1,356 for electrical work in schools.
Vine said the district hired GPD Associates of Akron as architects for the revamping project. GPD then erred when it submitted to the district incorrect invoices for work done by Valley Electric.
She said the error was explained to Valley Electric, which reimbursed the district in August 2000.
