MEREDITH E. TOMPKINS Jr., 64



SHARON, Pa. -- Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Wells of Life Church for Meredith E. Tompkins Jr., 64, of Woodland Place nursing home, Mercer, formerly of Sharon, who died Saturday evening in the home.
Mr. Tompkins, who was also known as "Sonny," was born Aug. 13, 1936, in New Florence, Pa., a son of Meredith E. Sr. and Elizabeth Howard Tompkins. He was retired from Sharon Steel Corp. and had been an Army paratrooper during the Korean War.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars posts 1338 in Sharon and 6223 in West Middlesex, Maenerchor Club of Sharon, Loyal Order of Moose in Farrell, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Sharon and Carpo-Russian Club in Sharon. He was also an avid golfer and member of Sharon Country Club and Oaktree Country Club in West Middlesex.
He leaves three sons, Arthur L. of Hermitage, Meredith E. III of Reynolds, Pa., and Frederick S. of Masury; two daughters, Debra A. Greene of Sharon and Crystal Rausch of Stoneboro, Pa.; a brother, Robert of Tionesta, Pa.; three sisters, Brenda Connelly of Sharon, Karen Stephens of Fuffal, Va. and Tammy Kellar of Jacksonville, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.
A daughter, Patricia Ann Tompkins, and two sisters, Connie Brannon and Adelaide Tompkins, are deceased.
There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by Sample-O'Donnell Funeral Home, Sharon.
