Cops break up party
YOUNGSTOWN -- A big teen-age party attended by Chaney High School students at 540 N. Brockway Ave. broke up Saturday night when police arrived.
Police said they smelled marijuana and found alcoholic beverages.
The homeowner, Juanita Bowell, 40, and seven young men 18 or older face charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Bowell's 17-year-old son told police he was having a small party for his friends but more people came than were invited.
Police took the names of 30 teens under the age of 18 and confiscated three drug pipes.
2 teens face chargesin vandalism spree
COLUMBIANA -- Two 18-year-old girls face charges in a vandalism spree that caused several thousand dollars in damages at several locations Saturday night.
Jennifer Yoder of Columbiana and LeeAnn Thomas of North Lima are accused by village police of breaking windows and mirrors on seven vehicles at Columbiana Buick-Olds-Cadillac on East Railroad Street, damaging two soda machines at the Save-a-Lot on Fairfield Avenue and breaking windows on two pavilions in Firestone Park.
Cops catch suspect
AUSTINTOWN -- An hour after a Patricia Avenue woman reported to police that two men were knocking on her front door, the strangers returned to pry it open.
They fled when an officer showed up about 11:48 p.m. Friday, leaving behind a flashlight and a screwdriver.
The officer caught Patrick R. Tobin, 22, of 471 N. Bonair, Youngstown, who was charged with resisting arrest, possession of criminal tools and attempted burglary.
The other man got away.
2 charged in break-in
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police arrested two men they saw driving away from Tri-County Distributors on Sunday, when the Oak Hill Avenue business was closed.
Officers found 18 bottles of wine in the car and signs of a break-in at the business.
Charles Perry, 45, of Cleveland Avenue and Longino G. Roman Jr., 20, of Kenmore Avenue face charges of breaking and entering.
Perry told police the wine was taken from a trash bin at Tri-County.
A representative for the business told police that the wine would not have been in the trash.
Police also cited Roman for driving without a license and served him with outstanding warrants issued in September for traffic violations.
Hubbard driver citedafter auto accident
HILLSVILLE, Pa. -- A Hubbard driver has been cited for not yielding to an oncoming car on U.S. Route 422.
Pennsylvania State Police said Joshua L. Smith, 16, of John White Road caused an accident when he pulled from a driveway at Highway Oil in front of Benjamin Pesce Jr., 69, of Rosanna Street, Ellwood City, at 11:45 a.m. Sunday.
Pesce was treated at Jameson Memorial Hospital.
Smith and his passenger, Steven Brown, 17, of Struthers, were not injured, police said.
