University center will feature two springtime events

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Jennings Environmental Education Center is sponsoring two springtime events next month.
At 2 p.m. April 8, the center staff will have a session on how to dye Easter eggs the old-fashioned way. Learn to use natural plant pigments from the fields, forest and kitchen to dye eggs.
Call ahead and register yourself or your group so that there are enough eggs available.
Participants will learn the history and legends associated with egg dying, as well as useful tips for finding and identifying dye plants.
Earth Week: The center celebrates Earth Week by having a "Spring Into Action" day from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21.
Interested groups and individuals willing to spend a day to help with park improvement projects during the annual event are urged to attend.
As a special thank you, lunch will be provided and each participant will receive a T-shirt commemorating the event. A raffle also is scheduled to give volunteers the opportunity to win outdoor-related prizes.
Participants must be 12 or older and must register for the program by contacting the center at (724) 794-6011 no later than April 13.
