Arrow of Light awards
Four members of Howland Cub Scout Pack 122 recently received their Arrow of Light awards, Cub Scouting's highest achievement.
The scouts are Allan Bille, John Falgiani, Alex Peterson and Josh Reeher. They are all fifth-graders at H.C. Mines Intermediate School in Howland.
Allan is an honor student and participates in the Aspire program. He received a first-place ribbon for his life science project at the school's science fair.
John is an honor student and is a member of the school's peer mediation group. He is active in community theater performing in Niles. He received a first-place ribbon for his physical science project in the science fair.
Alex is an honor student and participated in the Trumbull County Challenge 24 Math Competition and advanced to the four-county regional tournament at Youngstown State University, placing as a semifinalist. He received a first-place ribbon for his life science project in the science fair.
Josh is an honor student and also participated in the Trumbull County Challenge 24 Math Competition. He serves on the school's student council and received a first-place ribbon for his Earth science project in the science fair.

Service award
Vera Cook of Berlin Center was honored earlier this month for her 50 years of volunteer service to the Ohio 4-H program.
Cook received a plaque for her longtime service during the Bob Evans Farms 4-H Recognition Banquet in Columbus. The luncheon was part of a daylong conference for 4-H volunteers.
