YOUNGSTOWN -- A town hall meeting to discuss the nurse staffing problems in the health-care industry will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane. The meeting is sponsored by Youngstown General Duty Nurses Association, which is affiliated with the Ohio Nurses Association. There also will be a free blood pressure screening during the session, said Jeannie Mulichak, YGDNA social committee chairwoman.
Golden Buckeye Card
EAST PALESTINE -- A Golden Buckeye Card sign-up will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 3 at East Palestine Memorial Public Library, 309 N. Market St. Any resident 60 or older, or those of any age who have been certified totally and permanently disabled, are eligible to apply for the discount card. Applicants must show proof of birth date, and disabled applicants must also show proof of their disability via a document from a state or federal agency or a state-licensed physician.
Recycling art show
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University and the Mahoning County Division of Recycling Green Team will sponsor a re:CREATE art show set to open this week. The program will showcase art projects by area pupils in grades 3 to 8 in which they use discarded materials donated by local companies. The show opens at 7 p.m. Monday in the Oakland Center for the Arts. An awards ceremony will follow.
Meet the Valley
YOUNGSTOWN -- Registrations are being accepted for Meet the Mahoning Valley, a one-day program for relocated executives and other professionals and their spouses. Participants will meet with colleagues to learn more about issues that affect business and life in the Mahoning Valley.

Bone density screening
BOARDMAN -- A bone mineral density screening to help identify people at risk for osteoporosis will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, 6241 Market St. The charge is $30.
