DOROTHY M. MILES, 85
ELLWOOD CITY, Pa. -- Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Turner Funeral Homes, 500 Sixth St., for Dorothy M. Miles, 85, of Avalon Nursing Center, New Castle, formerly of 230 Hazen Ave., Ellwood City, who died Thursday at the nursing center where she lived three years.
Mrs. Miles was born Jan. 15, 1916, in Beaver Falls, Pa., a daughter of Herbert and Mary Bradshaw Tweddell.
A 1934 graduate of Beaver Falls High School, she was a member of Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City and its King's Daughters Sunday school class. She worked in the tube mill of U.S. Steel's Ellwood Works during World War II before moving to California, where she worked for Lockheed Aircraft.
Her husband, William A., died Oct. 17, 1979.
She leaves a daughter, Carole McStravick of Rockland, Mass.; a son, William C. Gruberof Austintown; three stepsons, William E. and Stanley Miles, both of Ellwood City, and Thomas Miles in Texas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Charles and Robert E. Tweddell, and her stepfather, Clarence Shaffer, are deceased.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and before services Saturday at the funeral home.
