VIRGINIA REED, 89

YOUNGSTOWN -- Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown, for Virginia Reed, 89, of 103 S. Main St., who died early Monday in Warwick, R.I.
Mrs. Reed was born March 21, 1911, in Stonycreek Township, Pa., a daughter of Lewis and Emma Nordick Fleegle, and came to Youngstown in 1933. A 1929 graduate of Johnstown, Pa., High School, she was also a 1932 graduate of the Johnstown Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
She did postgraduate surgical nursing training at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, and was a surgical nurse at SouthsideHospital here from 1933 to 1939 and 1960 to 1976, when she retired. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Austintown.
Her husband, Laurence F., died July 27, 1999.
She leaves two sons, Allan H. of Warwick, R.I., and Donald E. of Athens, Ohio; and two grandsons.
Friends may call from noon until time of services at the funeral home.
