REV. JAMES ZANNI, 39 Was associate pastor at St. Charles



BOARDMAN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Nicholas Church, Struthers, for the Rev. James Zanni, 39, of 7345 Westview Drive, who died of cancer early Wednesday in St. Vincent DePaul Rectory, Vienna.
Father Zanni was born Sept. 16, 1961, in Youngstown, a son of Louis and Irene Cipro Zanni.
He attended St. Nicholas Elementary School, Highland Avenue School and was a 1979 graduate of Struthers High School. Before entering the seminary, he was a department manager for Stambaugh-Thompson Co. in Youngstown.
He received his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Pontifical College Josephinum, Columbus, and his master of Divinity degree from Athenaeum of Ohio/Mount St. Mary's of the West Seminary, Cincinnati.
Father was ordained May 25, 1996, by Bishop Thomas Tobin and celebrated his first Mass May 26 in St. Nicholas Church. Following ordination, he was named associate pastor at St. Joseph Parish in Canton, and in July 2000 was appointed to St. Charles Parish in Boardman as associate pastor.
Besides his parents of Struthers, he leaves two sisters, Virginia Gordon of Poland and Carol Yoder of Hubbard; four brothers, Rev. Frank Zanni of St. Vincent DePaul, Vienna, David of Chillicothe, John of Rutland, Vt., and Steven of Orlando, Fla.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in St. Charles Church, where a prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Additional calling hours will be one hour before services in St. Nicholas Church.
