Man faces charges in shooting

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police say an ongoing neighborhood dispute led a 21-year-old man to shoot at two 12-year-old girls Wednesday afternoon.
Michael Alan Ramsey of 609 Boston Avenue is accused of two counts each of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault and harassment.
Authorities said he lured the girls, both of whom are his neighbors, into his yard at 3:20 p.m., then got a loaded .45-caliber handgun.
Then, without provocation, he fired a round directly at both girls, who were standing several feet away, police said. Neither girl was hit by the bullet or physically injured in any way.
Authorities did not say what the dispute was about, but noted that several telephone calls were exchanged between Ramsey and the girls before the shot was fired. Police said both girls had also been to another neighbor's house before Ramsey asked them to come to his yard to talk.
Authorities said a 15-year-old boy who was at Ramsey's house when the episode occurred also may face charges.
Ramsey was arrested without incident, and is in Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond after being arraigned before District Justice Samuel Battaglia.
