EDWARD JOSEPH KOCH, 81



SHARPSVILLE, Pa. -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Bartholomew's Church for Edward Joseph Koch, 81, of 1101 Main St., who died late Tuesday in Sharon Regional Health System after a long illness.
Mr. Koch was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Farrell, a son of Joseph and Theresa Mirage Koch. A 1937 graduate of Sharon High School, he retired in 1980 from the maintenance department of Sharon Steel Corp. after 26 years.
A member of the church, he was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing, gardening and bowling. At one time, he had built his own plane.
Besides his wife, the former Theresa Carbon, whom he married Aug. 30, 1941, he leaves two sisters, Betty Metelsky of Sharon and Eileen Grande of Farrell; a brother, Joseph of Florida; and two granddaughters.
A daughter, Frances Shoenfeld; three sisters, Catherine Pollock, Mary Tomczak and Dolores Serb; and three brothers, Walter, Robert and Frank, are deceased.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Stevenson-Webb Funeral Home.
