CAROLYN S. CHOJNACKI, 57 Was special ed teacher in Hubbard
CORTLAND -- Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Robert Catholic Church for Carolyn S. Chojnacki, 57, of 181 Huntington Trail, who died of cancer Wednesday afternoon at home.
Mrs. Chojnacki was born March 12, 1944, in Youngstown, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Democko Sevasko. She grew up in Campbell and lived in Hubbard from 1976 to 1998 when she moved to Cortland.
She graduated in 1962 from Campbell Memorial High School and in 1966 from Youngstown State University, and received a master's degree in special education from Kent State University.
She first taught in the Alexander Local School District in Albany, Ohio, and then for 25 years at Hubbard Schools, where she was a special education teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School.
She was a member of the church and the Hubbard, Ohio and National Education associations. She also was a member of Altrusa International and Fortnighty IV, and was active in cancer support groups.
She leaves her husband, Dr. Matthew Sr., whom she married Aug. 20, 1966; a daughter, Sharon VanZeeland of Cortland; a son, Matthew Jr. of Orion, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
A brother, Thomas Sevasko, is deceased.
