Authority to get loan for sewer project
HARRISBURG -- The North Beaver Township Municipal Authority was approved for a low-interest loan and grant financing through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority, state Rep. Chris Sainato said.
The $5.8 million project will provide public sewer service to the residential developments of Mount Jackson/Jackson Knolls and Sunnyside.
Sainato, of Union Township, D-9th, said new Pennvest financing through a $5.4 million loan and a $1 million grant will be added to previous Pennvest funding and borrower equity to pay for the sewer system upgrades.
The project will provide public sewage systems to about 400 homes. Some of those homes have malfunctioning septic systems.
Sainato said a survey of 262 homes showed that 222 had some type of sewer problem.
Township officials say they plan to extend some sewage lines built to service the Hickory View Terrace area to Jackson Knolls with the money from this loan and grant.
Sunnyside residents will tie into New Castle city lines that are in nearby Union Township, under the current plans.
