YOUNGSTOWN -- Services were to be at 1 p.m. today at Tod Homestead Cemetery Chapel for Richard Olverson, 39, of 2119 Lake Park Drive, Smyrna, Ga., formerly of Youngstown, who died of heart failure March 8 in Crawford Long Hospital, Atlanta, Ga.
Mr. Olverson was born Aug. 25, 1961, in Youngstown, a son of Orlando and JoAnn E. Olverson.
A graduate of The Rayen School, he received a four-year football scholarship from Howard University in Washington, D.C. He was a Navy veteran.
He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Centerville, Va., was president of the Black History Committee, secretary of Mount Olive News Club, a member of NAACP and assistant coach for Manassas Football League.
Besides his parents of Youngstown, he leaves his wife, the former Theresa Graves, whom he married June 30, 1984; two daughters, Nakima N. and Nyasha M. Olverson, both at home; three brothers, Orlando Jr. of Tulsa, Okla., Darryl of San Antonio, Texas, and Brian C. of Columbus; and a sister, Ra'Shon M. Olverson of Los Angeles, Calif.
