Proposed personnel cuts
The Lordstown schools administration provided the state oversight commission with a list of proposed staffing reductions. The positions and the savings of the cuts, including benefits:
Maintenance, $26,102*
Custodian, $37,500*
Part-time cafeteria worker, $6,440
Transportation coordinator, $33,589
Secretary, $38,350
Elementary principal, $63,430
Technology coordinator (spends two-thirds of time at the district and the other third at the Gordon D. James Career Center), $42,534*
Librarian, $46,690
Physical education teacher, $66,189
Industrial arts teacher, $57,216
Nurse (two-thirds at district and one-third at career center), $29,036
Elementary art teacher, $49,464
Part-time English teacher, $16,000
Part-time math teacher, $28,047
Total, $540,587
The savings could decrease if people whose positions are eliminated bump others with less seniority and take their jobs, as allowed in the teachers contract.
