WILLIAM RUSSELL TARR, 80



SHARON -- A memorial service will be later for William Russell Tarr, 80, of 497 Elm Ave., who died Sunday morning in UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell after a long illness.
Mr. Tarr was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Sharon, a son of John W. and Hannah M. Davis Tarr.
He graduated in 1939 from Sharon High School, where he played on the golf team that competed in the state championship. He worked 40 years at Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric in its H-30 building, and was a Protestant.
Besides his wife, the former Vivian M. Clark, whom he married Oct. 3, 1942, he leaves a son, Terry of Pittsburgh; a sister, Melva McCullough of Sharon; and four grandchildren.
A son, James W. Tarr, died in infancy, and a brother, John, also is deceased.
There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by Stevenson Funeral Home in Sharon. Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 660 Fisher Hill, Sharon 16146.
