Parents sentenced in case-fixing

WARREN -- A divorced couple who took part in their son's plan to fix his case in Columbiana County were given two years' probation this morning by Judge Peter Kontos in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Nancy Mowery Silvestri, 74, of Wildwood Drive N.E. pleaded guilty June 3, 1998, to insurance fraud and no contest to attempted bribery.
That same day, Joseph Silvestri, 71, of Montclair Street N.E. pleaded guilty to attempted bribery.
The couple must cooperate with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
Their son, Richard J. Silvestri, 45, of Warren admitted that he borrowed money from his mother and tried to have his lawyer, Jack V. Campbell, fix a robbery case in Columbiana in 1995.
Campbell was sentenced to 16 months of house arrest after pleading guilty to paying bribes to fix cases.
