BERNARD THOMPSON VON THAER, 96



WARREN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Roberts-Clark Memorial Home for Bernard Thompson Von Thaer, 96, of 1084 Perkinswood Blvd. S.E., who died Sunday afternoon in Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Von Thaer was born Dec. 30, 1904, in Girard, a son of Julius C. and Vinnie Plott Von Thaer. He worked for Miller-Smythe Electric and co-founded Warren Electric before World War II. He later was a maintenance foreman at the Trumbull Lamp Plant of General Electric for 20 years before retiring in 1969.
He was a member of Old Erie Masonic Lodge 3 and attended First United Church of Christ in Warren. He was a World War II Army veteran and also repaired antique phonographs.
He leaves his wife, the former Katie Jones, whom he married June 28, 1941.
Three sisters, Emma Von Thaer, Lenora Carlisle and Dolores Seacrest, are deceased.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
