PREP BASKETBALL Al Beach Classic March 28 at Boardman



The girls game will start at 6 p.m., while the boys contest is set for 7:30.
BOARDMAN -- The Mahoning Valley Coaches Association 31st annual Al Beach basketball classic will be contested March 28 at Boardman High School.
The girls all-star game is set for 6 p.m. with their 3-point contest at halftime.
The boys game will begin at 7:30 with the 3-point contest and the slam dunk contest at the half.
Girls rosters: There are 13 players on the girls white team, coached by Ron Moschella of Boardman and Don Feren of South Range.
The team consists of Julie Playforth (Canfield), Emily Zura (West Branch), Jennifer Kish (Boardman), Michelle Morrison (Western Reserve), Michelle Shellow (Fitch), Erin Reeder (Beaver Local), Tiffany Smith (Leetonia), Allison Carson (Springfield), Valerie Goudy (South Range), Olivia Kelly (Salem), Randi Townsend (Crestview), Jenny Miller (Canfield) and Tiffany Joseph (Poland).
Members of the girls red team will be Michelle Bellino (Hubbard), Laura Sewell (LaBrae), Cathy Cercone (Struthers), Shannon Burley (Ursuline), Tanisha Jones (Liberty), Angela Cape (Howland), Calli McMullin (Brookfield), Kiisha Warfield (Harding), Ashlee Bonar (Badger), Cherron Triplett (Rayen), Kristen Nero (Lakeview), Laura Toot (Newton Falls) and Quiona Boffman (Wilson).
They will be coached by Dave Konczal of Hubbard and Sean Durkin of Ursuline.
The participants in the girls 3-point shooting competition will be Corrie DeCapua of Brookfield, Toot, Lori Patrone of Mooney and Courtney Davidson of Ursuline.
Boys rosters: Jeff Hammond of Columbiana and Jeff Brink of Springfield will coach the boys red team.
Their players are Sam Gatta (Niles), Ian Schmidt (Columbiana), Jason Thompson (United), Jeff Kovack (Champion), Aaron Bernhard (Lakeview), Fred Lewis (Fitch), Ben Haug (Springfield), Jim Schuler (Springfield), Matt Kubik (Mooney), Brian Hulea (Canfield), Brad Smith (Chaney), David Schumer (Poland) and Jamey Paine (East Palestine).
On the boys white team will be Chris Zetts (Campbell), Chris Hatch (South Range), Greg Morgan (Girard), Mike Colaneri (Struthers), Dan McWilliams (Newton Falls), Jon Hochendoner (Jackson-Milton), Clay Saunders (Rayen), Craig Bohyer (Harding), Josh Colla (Boardman), Stefan Nemenz (Salem), Robert Lacey (Wilson), Mark Templeton (Lowellville) and Ian Nutt (Howland).
Frank Bubba of Harding and Campbell's Bob Fick will coach the white team.
The four boys selected for the 3-point shootout are Hochendoner of Jackson-Milton, Chad Carr of LaBrae, Sam Bates of Fitch and Steve Gerber of Brookfield.
Scheduled for the dunking competition are Chad Weber (United), Ethan Banks (East Palestine), David Soda (Harding), Curtis Ingram (Mooney), Shelby Chaney (LaBrae), Hatch, Tim Morgan (Girard), Robert Armstrong (Campbell) and Tyler Spencer (Niles).
Coaches honored: Five individuals will be honored as Coach of the Year -- Brink (ICL champs), Ken Grisdale of Poland (MAC champs), Bubba (SVC champs), Rich Stevens of Lakeview (TAC champs and district champs) and Mike Delbene of Girard (district champs).
Seven Coach of the Year plaques will be given in the girls divisions. The winners are John Diehl of Howland (MAC and district champs), Pat Pavlansky of Canfield (state runner-ups), Moschella (SVC and district champs), Feren (ICL co-champs), Durkin (district champs), Holly Seimetz of Rayen (City Series champs) and Konczal (TAC champs).
