Open house planned to fete the Garlands

YOUNGSTOWN -- An open house will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. April 7 at the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ in honor of the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Garland Sr., 1004 N. Four Mile Run Road.
Plans for the festivity are being made by the couple's children, William Garland Jr. of Mineral Ridge, Donna Gilkerson of Columbus, Jeff Garland of Youngstown, Kay Bryan of Mount Gilead and John Garland of South Dartmouth, Mass., and their seven grandchildren.
Mr. Garland and the former Irene A. Fusco were married April 8, 1951, at Central Christian Church.
The couple belong to the Mineral Ridge Church of Christ.
Mr. Garland, who is retired, worked as a machinist at Wean United and in maintenance for the Edward J. DeBartolo Corp. He is active in several fish and gun clubs.
His wife is retired from the Austintown Local School District, where she worked in the cafeteria.
