Penguins waste comeback, drop 11-8 defeat to Marshall



HUNTINGTON, W. Va. -- After coming back from a five-run deficit Friday, the Youngstown State University baseball team permitted four runs in the eighth inning and lost an 11-8 decision to Marshall.
The Herd (8-5), which has won four in a row, scored six runs in the sixth frame to take a 7-2 lead.
The Penguins (3-4) enjoyed a five-run top of the eighth inning to knot the game at 7-all. Three YSU pitchers permitted four hits and three walks in the last of the eighth.
Marshall's David Colangelo, who had three hits and four RBIs, doubled with one out to give his team an 8-7 lead.
Consecutive walks plated another run before Matt Eldridge laced a two-run double for an 11-7 front.
YSU scored a single run in the ninth inning but could get no closer.
Matt Lucki led YSU with three hits and three RBIs.
Kellen Dixon, Todd Santore and Kendall Sobecki each had two hits for the Penguins and Santore had three RBIs.
