SHARON -- Private services will be Monday at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home for Leland O. Beveridge Sr., 83, of 1292 Heinz Ave., formerly of Coolspring Township, who died Thursday night in Sharon Regional Health System hospital.
Mr. Beveridge was born July 26, 1917, in Boston, Pa., a son of Hugh E. and Nancy Olive Brothers Beveridge.
He retired in 1978 after 30 years at Sharon Steel Corp., where he was a crane operator.
He served in the Army during World War II and received the WWII Victory and American Campaign medals. He was a member of American Legion Post 584 in Springfield Township, VFW Post 6233 in West Middlesex and Disabled American Veterans Pennsylvania Chapter.
He also was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 55, Farrell, the American Carpatho-Russian Citizens and Social Club of Sharon, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 327.
He leaves two daughter, Nancy A. LaPlante of Tucson, Ariz., and Sandra J. Schubert of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sons, Lee O. Jr. of Sharon and David L. of Phoenix.; two brothers, Willis of West Middlesex and Harold of Fairfax, Va.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A sister, Marjorie Dillow, and four brothers, Homer, Albert, Thornly and Beryl, are deceased.
Calling hours will be private. Military rites will be provided by VFW Post 6233 and American Legion Post 432 of Wheatland.
