Zoning appeals board grants permit to steel tube business

MINERAL RIDGE -- The Weathersfield Township Board of Zoning Appeals approved a conditional use permit Thursday for Specialty Pipe and Tube to operate a new business at 3600 Union St.
The facility, under construction, is located diagonally across from Mineral Ridge High School, on property that had been owned by Hardrives Paving and Construction Inc.
Specialty will stock steel pipe and tube for distribution when the building is completed. It expects to open sometime next month if the structure is done, assistant zoning inspector Sherri Craver said.
A conditional use permit is required of any new business coming into the township. The zoning board stipulated that Specialty must submit landscaping plans for review by the township zoning inspector that would provide a buffer between the facility and the high school, which is located at Union and Seaborn Street.
