HOWLAND -- Memorial services will be Monday in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, North Little Rock, Ark., for Matthew C. Jeffers, 17, of 9210 Briarbrook Drive N.E., who died of a gunshot wound Wednesday at home. The coroner's office is investigating.
Matthew was born Nov. 16, 1983, in Little Rock, Ark., a son of Mel and Lora Demoney Jeffers, and had been a Howland resident since July 1999. He was a high school junior and was home-schooled.
Besides his parents at home, he leaves a half-sister, Natalie Benafield of Conway, Ark.; a half-brother, Jeff Jeffers of Little Rock; a grandmother, Marie Jeffers of Hamburg, Ark; and a great-grandmother, Lucy McRoberts of North Little Rock.
There are no calling hours.
Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.
Arrangements are by Roberts-Clark Memorial Home.
