BOARDMAN -- Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fox Funeral Home for William E. Nichols Sr., 78, of 7455 Sierra Madre Trail, who died Tuesday evening at the home of his son in Austintown.
Mr. Nichols was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Youngstown, a son of Emery and Yula Reynolds Nichols, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was an engineer for Erie-Lakawanna Railroad for 13 years and for Conrail for 25 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Egypt, and was a member of American Legion Post 732 on Glenwood Avenue in Youngstown and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
He leaves three sons, Dr. Keith of Columbus, James E. of Austintown and William E. Jr., of Lexington, S.C.; two daughters, Debbie Morgan of Boardman and Billie Jane Nichols of Youngstown; a stepson, Curtis Petrey of Youngstown; a stepdaughter, Cynthia Warner of Southington; and 15 grandchildren.
A sister, Betty Marley, and a brother, James E. Nichols, are deceased.
