Rainbow Rentals to begin wider-reaching ad campaign

THE VINDICATOR, YOUNGSTOWN
CANFIELD -- Rainbow Rentals said it is launching a new television advertising campaign and has bought the accounts and inventory of two Tennessee stores.
The Canfield-based rent-to-own chain said it has increased its advertising budget by 40 percent this year to cover the new campaign and its extended reach. It will begin later this month.
The advertisements are a series of demonstrations of how Rainbow can help when "life happens" to people. The campaign is designed to attract people with higher incomes as well as traditional rent-to-own customers, said Wayland Russell, company chairman and chief executive.
Rainbow bought the accounts of two Rental Depot stores in Knoxville and Alcoa, Tenn. They will be placed into three Rainbow stores in the Knoxville area. Rainbow paid about $274,000 to acquire 700 accounts from the stores' owner, C & amp;J Development Corp.
Rainbow offers appliances, electronics, computers and furniture at 111 stores in 11 states.
