MITTIE B. BRYANT PHILLIPS, 78
YOUNGSTOWN -- Services will be at noon Friday at Mason Funeral Home for Mittie B. Bryant Phillips, 78, of 810 Martin Luther King Blvd., who died early Sunday at her home.
Mrs. Phillips was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Talbotton, Ga., a daughter of Joshua and Johnnie B. Holmes Gray, and came to this area in 1952 from Manchester, Ga. She was a homemaker and nurse's aide at St. Jude's Nursing Home. She attended Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Her first husband, Hardie B. Bryant, whom she married in 1943, is deceased. Her husband, Chester, whom she married in 1974, also is deceased.
She leaves two daughters, Virginia Blackwell and Minnie L. Young, both of Youngstown; a son, William Bryant of Warren; a brother, Joshua Gray of Manchester; two sisters, Ida Mae Chaney and Sarah F. Miller, both of Manchester; eight grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Henry J. and Robert Bryant, three daughters, Annie Belle Hardret, Willie Mae Tate, and Vertis Mae Bryant, five brothers, Judge H., John T., Frankie L., Willie and Thomas H. Gray, a sister, Annie L. Gray Fobbs, three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild, are deceased.
Friends may call from noon to 4 p.m. today and one hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
