YOUNGSTOWN -- Private services will be at a later date in Maine for Henriette Butler MacVane, 72, of 660 Shore Blvd. South Gulf Port, Fla., formerly of Youngstown; Poland; Portland, Maine; and Squirrel Island, Maine, who died Tuesday at The Spring at Boca Ciega, Fla.
Mrs. MacVane, who was known as "Happy," was born May 8, 1928, in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph G. III and Bowe Smiley Butler.
While living in Poland, she attended Poland Seminary High School. A graduate of Smith College, she was fluent in five languages. She was a volunteer at the Maine Medical Center Hospice Program and Meals on Wheels.
She leaves a daughter, Deirdre Kidder of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sons, Nathaniel Kidder of Gulfport, Fla., Stuart Kidder of Valrico, Fla., and Tristram Kidder of New Orleans; a sister, the Rev. Joan Butler Ford of Poland and San Diego, Calif.; a half brother, Joseph Green Butler IV of Poland; and eight grandchildren.
Arrangements are by National Cremation Society, 5544 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, Fla.
