CHARLES Q. MARTIN, 80



YOUNGSTOWN -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sterling-McCullough Williams Funeral Home, Youngstown, for Charles Q. Martin, 80, of 575 Woodside Ave., who died of respiratory failure early Monday in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mr. Martin was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Proctor, Ark., a son of George A. and Katie M. Summer Martin, and lived in this area most of his life.
He graduated in 1938 from Science Hill High School, was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years and retired in 1978. He also was a tax preparer for H & amp;R Block.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its choir, Covenant Masonic Lodge 59, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Federal Postal Union Local 365. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his wife, the former Dorothy Streeter, whom he married Nov. 28, 1946, he leaves a son, Charles Jr. of Youngstown; a daughter, Gloria Martin-Thigpen of Xenia, Ohio; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
A brother, Atty. Howard; four sisters, Hilda Martin, Gladys Morris, Gussie Lawson and Blondine Harper; and a grandson, are deceased.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until services at the funeral home.
