WILLIAM H. MILLS Sr., 79 Art teacher for Warren City Schools



CHAMPION -- No services or calling hours are planned for William H. Mills Sr., 79, of 5847 Ave. N.W., who died of leukemia Tuesday morning in St. Joseph Health Center, Warren.
Mr. Mills was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Warren, a son of William H. and Thelma G. Hetzel Mills, and moved to Champion in 1957.
He graduated in 1939 from Warren G. Harding High School and in 1940 graduated from Youngstown College with a bachelor of arts degree in art. He served in the Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II and received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, two Bronze Stars and the Arrowhead Victory Medal.
He earned a master's degree in education from the University of Iowa in 1950. He taught art in Warren City Schools for 35 years before retiring in 1980.
He was a member of AARP, National Rifle Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, American Bowling Congress and the WIDC Senior Mixed Bowling League.
His first wife, the former Joan E. Kutsko, whom he married Oct. 14, 1947, died Sept. 18, 1986.
He leaves his wife, the former Suzanne Rogers Fulton, whom he married Oct. 7, 1994; two sons, William H. Jr. of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Brian of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Marilyn Barcikoski of Champion and Brenda Martin of Leavittsburg; a sister, June Hileman of Howland; a stepdaughter, Carol Burgermyer of Champion; and eight grandchildren.
A sister, Myra Shafer, and a stepson, David Fulton, are deceased.
Arrangements are by Peter Rossi & amp; Son Memorial Chapel in Warren. Contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Health Center Foundation.
