Schools' business manager announces his resignation

WARREN -- After working three years for Warren City Schools, Paul McCombs, the district's business manager, is calling it quits.
The district's board of education accepted McCombs' surprise resignation Tuesday. It becomes effective June 30.
McCombs, 53, said he will resign when his three-year contract expires because of family reasons.
The deaths of three family members in the last year prompted McCombs to make the decision, but he said he also looks forward to spending time with his wife, Phoebe, who also has retired.
"When I was younger, I could work night and day," he said. "I guess I'm just experiencing some burnout."
Before coming to Warren, McCombs worked in transportation, maintenance, buildings and grounds for Liberty and Mathews school districts.
He also worked a stint as a coordinator for Medina County's transit system.
McComb said his major accomplishments while working in Warren include overseeing renovation of Mollenkopf Stadium at Harding High School and renovation of the vocational wing at Western Reserve Middle School.
Another highlight, he noted, is that the district's transportation department under his tenure implemented computerized software to map routes.
