Police find body at Liberty address

LIBERTY -- Township police and the Trumbull County Coroner's Office are investigating the death Tuesday night of a 25-year-old man at his apartment.
Police found Niles J. Emmert in his apartment at 4148 Madison Ave. about 11:30 p.m.
Police Chief Michael Pilolli would not give the cause of death, saying that to do so might interfere with the investigation.
Other authorities said the victim had suffered at least one gunshot wound and that an autopsy was scheduled to be done today at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren.
The chief said his investigators have a number of witnesses to interview. "We do have some good leads," he added.
Police were called around 11:30 p.m. in response to a call from Monticello Apartments that shots had been fired.
When police arrived, according to their initial report, it appeared the front door had been broken. Police entered the apartment and found Emmert's body on the rear patio.
Pilolli said the broken door may have been the result of a burglary at the apartment several months ago.
Investigators were at the scene until early this morning.
