Burning to help
LOS ANGELES -- Slacking is not part of Jo Dee Messina's schedule.
The country singer is on tour for her "Burn" album, but she already has plans for what she'll do when that's over.
"I really want to get involved with charities," Messina told AP Radio. "I want to be able to spend some time writing. I'd love to do some writing for my next album. It's always been a goal of mine, and even to try to get cuts on other people's.''
Messina is nominated for best female vocalist at the Academy of Country Music awards, which will air on CBS on May 9.
Schell hospitalized
NEW YORK -- Maximilian Schell is recovering from an appendectomy that kept him off the stage of Broadway's Longacre Theatre, where he is headlining previews of a new production of "Judgment at Nuremberg."
Schell, 70, portrays an aging minister of justice on trial in 1948 for sentences he handed down under Hitler. He won a best actor Academy Award for the 1961 film "Judgment at Nuremberg," in which he gave a passionate performance as a young German defense lawyer.
Schell was hospitalized Saturday in New York City but is expected to resume performances Thursday, according to Joe Trentacosta, a spokesman for the production. The play is scheduled to open March 26.
Eminem, the flick
LOS ANGELES -- Eminem, a movie star?
It just might happen. Film producer Brian Grazer told "Access Hollywood" he has cast the rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, in his film debut.
"It's a 'Purple Rain' kind of movie," he told the syndicated show on Monday, referring to Prince's semiautobiographical movie debut in 1984.
Eminem's publicist, Dennis Dennehy, told The Associated Press on Monday he could not confirm that the rapper had agreed to the project, but said Eminem has been talking with Grazer about starring in such a film.

Good Cook correction
Two items were omitted from the recipes that appeared in the Good Cook feature on Saralee Greenfield on Feb. 28. Three eggs should be added to the list of ingredients in the recipe for Chilis Rellenos and in the recipe for Blintz Loaf, the cheese filling is made with cream cheese and cottage cheese, not cream cheese and ricotta.
