NILES -- Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, W.Va., for Joseph Takacs Jr., 82, of 951 Warren Ave., who died of a heart attack Tuesday morning in Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren.
Mr. Takacs, also known as "Tuck," was born Nov. 22, 1918, in Sabraton, W.Va., a son of Joseph Sr. and Helen Yuhasz Takacs. He came to Niles from Pittsburgh in 1955.
He was a millwright for RMI for 35 years and also had worked in the coal mines of West Virginia for 10 years. A Baptist, he was a World War II and Korean War Army veteran.
His wife, the former Della Mae Keiper, whom he married Aug. 18, 1945, died April 24, 2000.
He leaves a stepson, Joseph A. Smerdell of Warren; a stepdaughter, Wynona Gashie of Dilliner, Pa.; a brother, Elmer Takacs of Masontown, W.Va.; two sisters, Olga Henderson of Dyer, Ind., and Margaret Deprospero of Masontown; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, James, Dave and Alex; and two sisters, Helen and Irene Takacs, are deceased.
