At stake: The winner advances to the state title game Saturday at 2 p.m. against the winner of the Columbus Hartley (19-7)/Cincinnati McNicholas (20-6) game.
Canfield coach: Pat Pavlansky (102-41 in his sixth season).
So far: Canfield began the season 9-6, but has won 11 consecutive games. The Cards were seeded third in the Austintown Fitch district bracket and reeled off four wins for Pavlansky's first district title, defeating: Southeast, 77-42; Mooney, 54-35; Salem, 64-54; and Niles, 49-32. In Canfield's first regional in eight seasons, the Cards blew out Walsh Jesuit, 68-23, then eliminated Avon Lake 48-45 to clinch the Cards' first trip to state in nine years.

Eastwood: The Eagles advanced to their first appearance at state since 1977 by defeating Canton Central Catholic, 59-50, to win the Bucyrus regional. Stacy Weiland, a 5-7 guard, scored 18 points and senior forward Libbe Speck pulled down 17 rebounds to trigger the Columbus trip.
