RUTH MAE VANESKAY, 72



BOARDMAN -- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in St. Charles Church for Ruth Mae Vaneskay, 72, of 816 Pearson Circle, who died of cancer Sunday evening in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Miss Vaneskay was born May 29, 1928, in Anita, Pa., a daughter of John S. and Alice Norris Vaneskay. She lived in New York City before coming here 12 years ago. She graduated in 1952 from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in biology and also studied music at the Dana School of Music.
She also studied music in Philadelphia while working in the laboratory at Philadelphia General Hospital. She performed and studied music in Europe. In Italy she was awarded the Gigli Scholarship for Opera. She also performed in summer musicals in New Jersey while she lived in New York.
She retired in 1996 from the Federal Reserve Bank in New York. She also worked as manager of Catherine's Dress Shop in Boardman.
She was a member of the church.
She leaves three sisters, Sylvia Keeley of Sarasota, Fla., Dolores P. Sullivan of Boardman and Jean Vaneskay, with whom she made her home; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Col. Edward Stevens, is deceased.
