MARY S. GARCIA, 90



AUSTINTOWN -- Services were at 10 a.m. today at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. in St. Brendan Church for Mary S. Garcia, 90, of Alterra Clare Bridge Cottage, formerly of Connecticut Avenue, who died Saturday afternoon at the nursing center.
Mrs. Garcia was born July 23, 1910, in Youngstown, a daughter of George and Elizabeth Rayakovic Silak.
She was a custodian for U.S. Steel for 31 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the church and its Altar & amp; Rosary Society and Senior Citizens 60 Plus Club. She also was a member of Catholic Daughters-Court St. Anne 1875, Croatian Pensioners Club of Lodge 66, Westside Retirees Club and U.S. Steel Steelworkers Of America Retirees Local 1331.
Her husband, Everisto R., whom she married May 12, 1928, died Aug. 16, 1969.
She leaves a son, Antonio of Austintown; two daughters, Josephine Croutch and Rosemarie Manes, both of Youngstown; two sisters, Rose White of Youngstown and Ann Kubenic of Parma; 11 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Tom and George Silak, and three sisters, Magy Miller, Helen Perkovich and Katherine Shorthouse, are deceased.
