LEORA M. MECHLING, 85 Co-owned Leesburg store in the 1950s



LEESBURG, Pa. -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wetzler Funeral Home, Bellefonte, Pa., for Leora M. Mechling, 85, of 301 Farmstead Lane, State College, Pa., formerly of Leesburg, who died Saturday afternoon in Centre Community Hospital, College Township, Pa.
Mrs. Mechling was born Aug. 31, 1915, in Leesburg, a daughter of George W. and Ada M. Douglass.
She and her husband owned a general store in Leesburg in the 1950s. She retired as a cook for the Delta Chi Fraternity at Penn State.
She was a member of Bellefonte Women of the Moose and played bingo.
Her husband, David E., whom she married Aug. 31, 1933, died Sept. 6, 1981.
She leaves two daughters, Evelyn Williams of Leawood, Kan., and Debra Boob of Pleasant Gap, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A son, Douglass E., is deceased.
