MELVA L. CARPENTER, 75 Owned, operated income tax service



NEWTON FALLS -- Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Borowski Funeral Home, Newton Falls, and 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sand Run Baptist Church, Buckhannon, W.Va., for Melva L. Carpenter, 75, of 2919 state Route 5, Braceville Township, who died of congestive heart failure Saturday morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, after a long illness.
Mrs. Carpenter was born Jan. 29, 1926, in Randolph County, W.Va., a daughter of William D. and Stella M. Post Waugerman, and moved to the Newton Falls area in 1951.
She owned and operated Mel's Income Tax Service for 30 years, retiring in 1999, and was a member of the Trumbull County Better Business Bureau, and Southington Baptist Church and Gertrude Methodist Church in Ellamore, W.Va. She graduated from Alimore, W.Va., High School in 1943.
Her husband, Roy G., whom she married March 1, 1946, died June 7, 1998.
She leaves a son, Richard L. of Austintown, and a grandchild.
Two sisters, Thelma Waugerman and Lorraine Carpenter; and two brothers, Howard and Harley Waugerman, are deceased.
