HERMITAGE -- Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul United Church of Christ for Chester W. Kloss, 83, of 4400 Clifford Drive, who died Sunday night at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Kloss was born March 13, 1917, in Sharon, a son of Fred W. and Frances McGrath Kloss. He retired in 1977 as foreman of the line gang in the electrical department of Sharon Steel Corp. after working there 32 years.
He was a member of St. Paul Church of Christ, where he served as deacon and a member of its Men's Brotherhood. He was a former member of Central Christian Church, where he had served as elder and financial secretary and in other offices. He was a 1937 graduate of Sharon High School.
He was a member of Shenango Masonic Lodge 668, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of New Castle, was a 50-year member of Sharon American Legion Post 299, and was a member of Christian Associates of Shenango Valley.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 4th Infantry in Europe and was on Normandy Beach on D-Day.
Besides his wife, the former Martha E. Anderson, whom he married Oct. 2, 1942, he leaves two sons, C. Timothy of Sharon and K. Richard of Cincinnati; a brother, Frederick of Sharon; and five grandchildren.
A sister, E. Evelyn Allender, and two brothers, Richard and Glenn, are deceased.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stevenson Funeral Home, Sharon.
