30 people indicted on drug charges

WARREN -- Several area people are scheduled to appear in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court this morning on drug charges.
The Trumbull County Sheriff's Department arrested about 30 people Sunday on secret indictments. The Trumbull County Drug Task Force obtained the indictments last week. The names of those arrested were not available this morning.
Sheriff department officials said the indictments deal with the illegal street sales of OxyContin, a prescription painkiller similar to morphine. The drug is highly addictive and is usually prescribed to help ease the pain for cancer patients, sheriff officials said.
Drug task force members said the drug creates a high similar to heroin but without the side effects.
