CLEVELAND -- Kahli Carter scored 36 points, including five in overtime, as Toledo won its seventh Mid-American Conference championship. Kent State led 38-15 at halftime, but Toledo got 27 points from Carter in the second half including a 3-pointer that gave the Rockets (25-5) a 56-55 lead with 2:48 remaining. Carter shot 11-of-17 from the field, including 4-of-5 on 3-pointers, to break the record for the most points in a MAC title game. Lori Albers of Bowling Green scored 34 points in a 96-68 victory over Kent State in 1993. The Golden Flashes (21-8) took a 60-56 lead on two free throws by Carrie Nance and a layup and free throw by Julie Studer with 1:53 left. But two free throws by Carter, who also had nine rebounds, and a layup by Tia Davis tied the game at 60 and sent it into overtime. Toledo, which has won 16 straight games, outscored Kent State 14-5 in overtime. Its 23-point halftime deficit was the largest ever for a team that won a MAC tournament game. The Golden Flashes shot just 20 percent from the field in the second half and went 1-for-10 in the overtime period. Nance finished with 21 points, and Studer had 17 points and 13 rebounds for Kent State.
No. 16 SW Missouri St. 84, Drake 69
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Jackie Stiles scored 21 of her 47 points consecutively, leading Southwest Missouri State in the Missouri Valley Conference championship game. The win carries an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for Southwest Missouri (25-5), the tournament's No. 2 seed. Drake (23-6) was the No. 1 seed, and must now wait until today to see if it gains an at-large bid. Delaware 69, Vermont 64, OT
BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Lindsay Davis scored seven of her 17 points in overtime as top-seeded Delaware rallied for its first America East tournament title. The victory, the Blue Hens' first at Vermont in 13 tries, earned them an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. It was also the first America East championship game decided in overtime.
Alcorn St. 86, Grambling St. 74
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Cherea Wood had 34 points and 12 rebounds for Alcorn State in the championship game of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament and clinched a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
UC Santa Barbara 79, Long Beach St. 76
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Rachelle Rogers scored 25 points to lead UC Santa Barbara to its fifth straight Big West Conference tournament title. Long Beach State (17-13) started the game with 13 consecutive points and held Santa Barbara scoreless until Lisa Willett made a free throw.
Old Dominion 66, James Madison 62
NORFOLK, Va. -- Okeisha Howard scored 13 points as Old Dominion won its 10th consecutive Colonial Athletic Association tournament. Monique Cocker had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Lady Monarchs (21-8).
TCU 66, Hawaii 58
TULSA, Okla. -- Tricia Payne scored 26 points and Texas Christian held off a late rally to win the championship of the Western Athletic Conference tournament. The Lady Frogs (24-7) earned their first trip to the NCAA tournament. Hawaii (23-7) will need an at-large berth to go the tournament for the sixth time.
Howard 63, Delaware St. 44
RICHMOND, Va. -- Essence Coggins scored 10 points during a 21-2 second-half run to lift Howard past Delaware State in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament championship. Howard (21-9), used the burst midway through the half to take control of an up-and-down game. The Lady Bison followed their regular-season MEAC title by earning their first NCAA tournament berth in three years.
No. 13 Iowa St. 68, No. 7 Oklahoma 65
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Megan Taylor hit six 3-pointers and scored 28 points as Iowa State won its second straight Big 12 Conference tournament title. Center Angie Welle, the tournament MVP, hit a critical late free throw and added 13 points for the third-seeded Cyclones (25-5).
Georgia St. 64, Campbell 62
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Leslie McElrath scored 24 points to lead Georgia State to an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Evita Rogers scored 16 points for Georgia State (24-6), and Marica Maddox contributed 12 assists. Campbell was led by TAAC player of the year April Cromartie's 25 points and 12 rebounds.
Idaho State 68, Montana 59
POCATELLO, Idaho -- Mandi Carver scored 16 points as Idaho State clinched its first berth in the NCAA tournament. Idaho State (25-4) extended its winning streak to 21 games, tying Penn for the longest active streak in nation.
Stephen F. Austin 82,Northwestern St. 73
BOSSIER CITY, La. -- Latisha Prater finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead Stephen F. Austin. The victory sends the Ladyjacks to the NCAA tournament for the 14th straight year and for the 16th time overall.
