New chief namedfor watercraft
COLUMBUS -- Michael E. Quinn of West Jefferson has been named law enforcement administrator for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft. A 33-year veteran of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Quinn has extensive experience in various law enforcement programs. The division oversees boat registration and titling operations, provides funding to local communities for education, enforcement and boating facilities, educates the public and enforces boating laws on Ohio's waterways. These programs are user-funded through boat registration fees and through a portion of state and federal motor fuel taxes.
Hearing set April 2on boating rules
COLUMBUS -- A public meeting to discuss several proposed rule changes for recreational boating in Ohio will be held at 10 a.m. April 2 at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources headquarters in Columbus.
Among the proposals is a reduction from 20 miles per hour to 10 miles per hour the watercraft speed limit on Berlin Reservoir from sunrise to sunset.
The public hearing will be held at the ODNR Division of Watercraft administrative headquarters, located at 4435 Fountain Square Drive (Building A) in Columbus. Interested persons may testify during the hearing or submit written comments prior to April 1 to the chief, Division of Watercraft, 4435 Fountain square Drive, Columbus, Ohio, 43224.
HUNTING
Minor changes proposedfor 2001 deer season
COLUMBUS -- Ohio deer hunting regulations for the 2001 season will likely remain similar to last year's, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife. The proposed regulations were presented last night in Columbus to the Ohio Wildlife Council, which will vote on proposals April 11, after a series of public open house meetings around the state.
A statewide fish and game hearing will be held in Columbus on March 22. The Ohio Wildlife Council is scheduled to vote on all proposals and regulations on April 11.

Coyote seminar
The Ohio Division of Wildlife will host a seminar on coyotes at 6:30 p.m. Monday at University School, 2785 SOM Center Road in Hunting Valley near Cleveland.
The free, public seminar will include a short video and a brief presentation.
