WILLARD E. SMITH, 88



SALEM -- Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Stark Memorial Funeral Home for Willard E. Smith, 88, of 1746 S. Lincoln Ave., who died Friday afternoon in Essex II Nursing Center here after a one-month illness.
Mr. Smith was born April 20, 1912, in Hannibal, Ohio, a son of William and Elmira Bowery Smith, and came to the area 40 years ago.
He was a slusher for the Eljer Company for 25 years and was a Lutheran.
His wife, the former Hazel Lockhart, died Aug. 7, 1996.
He leaves three daughters, Betty Unger, Thelma Poage and Gladys Drotleff, all of Salem; four grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A brother, Thurman, and a grandson are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
