NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- St. Francis Hospital will open its newly constructed ambulatory surgical center Monday. The 10,000-square-foot center is adjacent to the emergency room entrance and designed to offer more privacy to patients having outpatient surgery, said Cheryl Bundza, hospital spokeswoman.
Hospital officials say they constructed the new center in response to the increased demand for outpatient surgery. The new center increased the patient capacity from nine to 14, she said. All surgery, laboratory work and patient registration will be done in the new area.
Patients previously were admitted to the ambulatory center but were sent to the hospital operating rooms for procedures, she said.
