ALBERT DALE SHEARS, 63 Owned, operated drugstore chain



YOUNGSTOWN -- A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hope Lutheran Church, Bonita Springs, Fla., for Albert Dale Shears, 63, of Estero, Fla., formerly of Youngstown, who died Wednesday in Naples Community Hospital.
Mr. Shears was born Jan. 4, 1938, in Youngstown, a son of Albert R. and Grace M. Toy Shears.
A graduate of Struthers High School and 1959 graduate of Ohio Northern University School of Pharmacy, he owned and operated a small chain of drugstores in Youngstown before moving to Florida where he was a pharmacist for Walgreens for 20 years.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church here and Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity.
He was a founder of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Youngstown in the 1970s and was president of its board of directors. He also served two four-year terms on Struthers Board of Education.
Besides his wife of 43 years, the former Virginia Sumner, he leaves two daughters, Vickie Chapman of Cape Coral, Fla., and Rebecca Zinnbauer of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two sons, Albert J. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Donald of Cape Coral; a sister, Susan Salzgeber of Wilmington, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
