VERBENA M. GAYDOS, 85

NEW CASTLE -- Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Ed & amp; Don DeCarbo Northside Funeral Home and at noon in St. Vitus Church for Verbena M. Gaydos, 85, of 82 Ashberry Lane, formerly of Scotland Lane, who died of heart failure Wednesday night in St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh.
Mrs. Gaydos was born June 24, 1915, in New Castle, a daughter of Emilio and Rosalba Liberatore Daltorio. She was a homemaker and a member of the church and its Ladies' Guild.
Her husband, John J., whom she married Aug. 21, 1943, died Sept. 8, 1993.
She leaves two daughters, Diane G. Bennett of Kiawah Island, S.C., and Audrey G. Matson of Conifer, Colo.; two sons, Stephen M. of Cranberry Township, Pa., and Mark E. of Nashua, N.H.; a brother, Edmund Daltorio of New Castle; three sisters, Josephine, Flora and Rose Daltorio, all of New Castle; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mary and Irissa, and two brothers, Nicholas and Eugene Daltorio, are deceased.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
