MARION CHANCY FRENCH, 80 Was owner-operator of French's Mill



ASHTABULA -- Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church, Andover, for Marion Chancy French, 80, of 925 East 26th St., who died Monday in Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Mr. French was born Oct. 1, 1920, in Andover, a son of C.N. and Irene Miller French, and spent 20 years in Florida before returning to the area in 1996.
He owned and operated French's Mill and the Ohio and Pennsylvania Oil and Gasoline Co., Andover, for many years. He received a degree in industrial engineering from Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh.
He was a member of the church and a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 506 and the Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the Navy Reserve for more than 25 years, retiring as a lieutenant commander, and was a member of Percy D. Hyatt American Legion Post 226.
His wife, the former Marian Burns, whom he married June 20, 1942, died Dec. 6, 1996.
He leaves a son, David of Roaming Shores; a daughter, Nancy Kister of Ashtabula; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Four brothers died in infancy.
There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by Baumgardner Funeral Home in Andover.
