JOHN W. McCANN, 78 Was member of Sharon zoning board



SHARON, Pa. -- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph Church, Sharon, for John W. McCann, 78, of 543 Wengler Ave., who died Tuesday morning at home after a long illness.
Mr. McCann, known as "Jack," was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Sharon, a son of John E. and Mary E. Hanahan McCann.
A 1941 graduate of Sharon High School, he had attended Youngstown State University, and worked for Sawhill Tubular Division of AK Steel in Sharon for 35 years, retiring in 1982 as data processing department manager.
He was a member and usher of the church and had been a member of the Sharon Zoning Commission. He was a World War II Army Corps of Engineers veteran stationed in the European Theater.
Besides his wife, the former Shirley R. Martz, whom he married May 15, 1948, he leaves two daughters, Margaret Skiljo and Erin M. Clepper, both of Sharon; four sons, Terrence M. of Hermitage, Daniel G. of Sharon, John P. of Farrell and Timothy W. of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Porter of Hermitage; a brother, Thomas E. of Greenville, Tenn.; and 13 grandchildren.
A sister, Mary E. Hnida, is deceased.
